Deleting your account
You can delete your account from a single screen inside the app. This page explains where that is, which data is deleted and what remains.
Deletion happens inside the app only. There is no form on this page: an account should only ever be deleted by the person signed in to it.
How to delete it in the app
- 1
Open Settings
Go to the Settings screen from the profile tab.
- 2
Account Settings
Pick the Account Settings row from the list.
- 3
Delete account
Tap “Delete account” at the bottom and confirm the warning. It takes effect immediately and cannot be undone.
What gets deleted
When you delete your account, the details that identify you are removed from it:
- Your first name, last name, display name and username.
- Your email address and password.
- Profile details such as date of birth, gender and phone number.
- The notification tokens of your devices — no notification will reach your account again.
What remains, and why
Some records are not deleted, because they are not yours alone: a conversation is the shared history of two people, and erasing it would empty the other person’s history too.
- Messages and posts you sent remain; your name is replaced with “Deleted user” and they can no longer be linked to you.
- Groups you founded are closed: their public routes are unpublished and their scheduled events are cancelled.
- Records we are legally required to retain — such as records of purchases made through the stores — are kept for the period the law prescribes. Personal details in those records are stored encrypted and used only for that obligation.
How long it takes
Your request is processed immediately: the moment you confirm, your account is closed and your personal data is anonymised. There is no waiting period and no window to undo it.
So think twice before you delete: you can sign up again with the same email, but your old account, your groups and your points will not come back.
If you cannot get into the app
If you have lost access to your device or cannot sign in, try resetting your password first: the “Forgot password” step on the sign-in screen sends a six-digit code to your email.
If that still does not work, write to us from the Support section inside the app; we will process your request once we have verified your identity.
Take a break instead
If you just want to be less visible for a while, you do not have to delete anything: you can turn off notifications, switch off “appear nearby” to stop showing up to people around you, or quietly leave your groups.
